(FOR THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT INSTALLATION, APRIL 2025)

Shannae combined her love of pop art with surreal elements to develop a playful and visually engaging environment. It showcases her growing collection of food-themed sculptures created using foam, cardboard, tape, and foil, which were then covered in a homemade paper-mâché clay, acrylic paint and a glossy finish. She uses a variety of bold and vibrant colour schemes for many of her sculptures to captivate the viewers. Her works are displayed against a striking black and white, hard-edge striped background to create visual contrast. Some of her sculptures are hung from the ceiling or on walls, while others are placed on plinths or the floor. It visually displays her current most significant interests as a multimedia artist!

Shannae Jaccard with her installation, 2025.

After being greatly influenced by Claes Oldenburg’s art exhibition, The Store (1961), which showcased playful, oversized versions of several foods in a convenience store-like setting, Shannae wanted to create her own unique environment made purely for enjoyment, to brighten the moods of other food-enjoyers who may encounter her art pieces. She presents this installation in two formats: firstly, as a large-scale installation where the sculptures range from approximately life-sized to larger-than-life, and secondly as a meticulously crafted miniature diorama, inviting viewers to explore the space from multiple perspectives.
